What languages is SketchUp available in?
Supported versions of SketchUp are available for download in the following languages:
- English
- French
- Italian
- German
- Spanish
- Japanese
- Korean
- Brazilian Portuguese
- Russian
- Polish
- Swedish
- Traditional Chinese
- Simplified Chinese.
Tip: If the language used in the downloaded version of SketchUp does not match the language used by your operating system, SketchUp defaults to the operating system's language. To use SketchUp in a specific language please change the language of your operating system to match.
Where do my files get saved (in the cloud or on my machine)?
It's up to you! Based on which platform you use, SketchUp defaults to the saving method that makes most sense for that platform.
When using the SketchUp for Desktop, your models save locally until you choose to sync your projects with Trimble Connect.
In SketchUp for Web or SketchUp for iPad, your models save in Trimble Connect until you want to export them to a locally stored file.
Does SketchUp for Desktop require an internet connection?
SketchUp for Desktop works just fine offline. You will need an internet connection If you want to receive updates, save your files to Trimble Connect, browse or download from 3D Warehouse, or access Extension Warehouse.
You'll also need an internet connection to activate SketchUp products on your computer for the first time. After activation, you can work in the desktop applications offline for up to 28 days before we'll ask you to sign in again.
Note: To make sure you can connect to SketchUp's online features you may need to adjust the following settings in your Firewall, Proxy, or Internet Security software for your network or computer:
For Single User or Laptop Licenses, SketchUp needs access on the following ports: 80, 8080, and 443
For Network Licenses, SketchUp needs access to the following ports: 5053 and 50530
SketchUp also needs permission to visit all the subdomains for SketchUp.com, easily included as: *.sketchup.com
