How do I assign products to new users?

As an Account Owner, Secondary Account Owner, or Administrator, you have access to the Trimble Account Management Portal (AMP), and are able to add new users as well as assign product access. For detailed steps on how to perform these, and other functions within the AMP, please refer to Managing Subscription Plans.

Coinciding with the launch of SketchUp Studio for Universities, we have also launched new bulk upload and user management functionality in the Trimble Account Management Portal. It is now possible to add up to 200 users at one time via CSV, as well as to manage users and assign product subscriptions in bulk. For more details regarding this new functionality please refer to the linked article.

What is the difference between SketchUp Studio for Universities and Networked Lab Licensing?

SketchUp Studio for Universities provides named user subscription seats of the SketchUp Studio for Higher Education product suite. These seats can be used both on and off campus, and may be reassigned as needed during a subscription term. Users login to products using a personal Trimble ID and will have two activations available should they need to access their products on multiple devices. SketchUp Studio for Universities is available in bulk tiered pricing with a maximum price cap of $20,000.

Networked Lab Licenses are floating network licenses to be installed on desktop computers using an activation key. They may only be used on site and do not require individual logins. Networked Lab Licenses include access to SketchUp Pro, LayOut and Style Builder, and are available at $30/seat/year.

For more details please refer to the SketchUp website.

I have a Network Lab License. What changes should I expect with this offering?

Network Lab Licenses are still available to higher education institutions, for both new and existing customers. There will be no changes to the deployment, contents or purchasing process for these licenses, however they will now be offered at a price point of $30/seat. For more details or for pricing questions please reach out to your local reseller for individual assistance.

I have an Institutional Laptop License. What changes can I expect with this offering?

Beginning in July 2021, Institutional Laptop Licenses (ILLs) will no longer be available for purchase, and are being replaced by SketchUp Studio for Universities. Similar to the ILLs, SketchUp Studio for Universities allows for bulk purchasing and offers corresponding tiered pricing. In addition, the new offering provides access to the entire suite of products within SketchUp Studio for Higher Education and with our new Bulk User Upload feature you and your students will be up and running faster than ever.

If you have recently purchased an Institutional Laptop License (prior to August 2021) or are still using a license from the 2020/2021 school year, your license will remain active until its indicated expiration date. You should not see any interruptions in service as a result of this deprecation, and will be able to use your license until its expiration. For more information or questions about renewal options please reach out to your local reseller.

How do I renew without disruption?

Towards the end of a subscription period, you will be notified in advance that you are up for renewal. Beginning 30 days before expiration they will be able to reach out to your reseller directly through the Plan Settings page in the Trimble Account Management Portal.

You will also receive a reminder email 10 days prior to expiration, letting you know that your products are up for renewal and how to contact your reseller.

If a subscription is renewed prior to the expiration date the product entitlements will transfer and existing users will have continued access to their products without interruption. Any renewals performed after a subscription expires will be treated as a new order, and you will need to perform the complete bulk upload process to assign new entitlements to users.

For more information or questions about renewal options please reach out to your local reseller.

What do I do if a user leaves midterm?

User roles and product access can be managed through the Trimble Account Management Portal by those with Account Owner, Secondary Account Owner, or Administrator roles. To revoke product access visit the Members page and select the user(s) in question using the individual member checkboxes. Open the Bulk Actions menu and select Modify Product Access to unassign products from the chosen user(s). This action may be performed with all users at any point throughout a subscription term.

If I purchase new seats partway into the semester, will they be considered a part of my previous order?

Additional subscription seats purchased at a later date will be considered to be a separate order, and pricing will reflect this. These seats can be purchased either at a rate prorated to reflect the original order’s expiration date, or for an additional full one year term. For more personalized purchasing options, contact your local reseller.
